FUEL CELLS FOR BUILDINGS

In the residential sector, as well as in commercial buildings, fuel cells can be used to simultaneously produce both heat and power. Fuel cells used in this configuration have different requirements and can exhibit an even higher degree of efficiency due to the use of the heat generated.

Celcibus invention could be particularly interesting for PEM fuel cells used in the residential sector thanks to the quick start up and the power modulation possibilities.

Today Japan is the leading market for residential applications, but there are around 20 manufacturers worldwide offering so called CHP systems (combined heat and power)
ranging from 0,5-5 kW. Even if Japan is the leading market for micro-CHP systems,
deployments are also occurring in Europe, such as in the European Ene.field and PACE
projects.
